7 steps Application and Acceptance Procedure

 

 Application procedure
  1. Evaluate your educational background, desired career perspectives with the prerequisites and outcomes of the offered study programmes.
  2. Consider the language of instruction, the tuition fees, and living costs.
  1. Collect the documents for submission of application. Application documents. Application deadlines.
  • All documents must be in English; if translation is needed, it must be verified by Notary.
  • Do not forget to legalise your educational (the copies) and other documents. More information about double legalisation or Apostille.
  • The bank statement and the Affidavit must be original, addressed to KTU.
  • You may consult the Enrolment Manager if you are confused about something.
  1. Send filled Application form together with supporting documents to the Enrolment Manager at KTU.
  2. If your documents are correct and your application is successful, within 1-2 months you will receive the acceptance letter and intermediation documents for the Lithuanian Embassy.
  • New study year starts yearly on the 1st of September.
  • There might be possibility to start in February as well (for undergraduate and transfer students).
  1. Submit the documents for Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) and National (D) visa at the closest Lithuanian Embassy. Visa documents and Migration formalities.
  • Pay 1 year tuition fee in advance and send the copy of money transfer to the Enrolment Manager (in the case of the visa refusal, KTU is responsible to return paid tuition fee 100% back to the student). Bank details.
  • Consider the time you need to approach the Embassy if it is not located in your country.
  • National visa D may be issued in 15 days which substitutes TRP for the next 12 months.
  • The EU and EEA citizens do not need any visas.
  1. After you get visa, plan your trip to Lithuania.
  • Inform the Enrolment Manager about your arrival dates; if you require a room in the dormitory or to discuss other practical things.

Supporting documents:

  • Official legalised documents of previous education (certificate of school – for bachelor degree, and university diploma – for applicants for master studies) including grades (an academic transcript); 
  • Notarised copy of passport (for non EU citizens) or ID card (only for EU and EEA citizens); 
  • One recent passport-size (3×4 cm) photograph
  • Bank statement (original, not a copy) providing evidence of ability to support oneself for the duration of the studies (tuition, accommodation and living expenses, etc); 
  • Affidavit (original, not a copy; legalised) providing one’s pledge to support the Applicant’s costs of studies and living during the studies period; 
  • A copy of document showing paid application fee (where the name of the applicant and the date of payment are indicated). Application fee is not refundable. Bank details;
  • List of publications as well as Motivation letter (only for applicants for master degree students).

All the documents have to be either in English or Lithuanian language. Subscription of the Notary for English and Lithuanian translations of all written documents is required. The educational and financial documents must be legalised according to international law requirements.
The Application without supporting documents will not be considered. The applicant might be asked to submit additional documents.

Application deadlines
  • Undergraduate study programmes start twice a year: on the 1st of September and on the 1st of February. Applications have to be received by the 30th of June (by the 20th of July for EU and EEA citizens) and by the 30th of November respectively.
  • All Master’s study programmes start only once per year on the 1st of September (autumn semester). Therefore, the completed application form and supporting documents must be received at the KTU International Office by the 30th of June for non EU and EEA citizens; by the 20th of July for EU and EEA citizens.

Nevertheless we accept applications all year round and organise preparatory courses if needed. Consult Enrolment Manager.

Application fee (100 euros) is not refundable. The application is not considered without the application fee paid. Please send the evidence of payment together with the application documents.

1 year tuition fee has to be payed in advance and the copy of money transfer has to be sent to the Enrolment Manager before approaching Lithuanian Embassy for TRP and visa (in the case of the visa refusal, KTU is responsible to return paid tuition fee 100% back to the student).
