KTU to Establish Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) takes another step forward in accelerating the development of frontier knowledge and technology competence and infrastructure in Baltic Sea region economies.

On February 7, Kaunas University of Technology and Aalto University Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE) have signed cooperation agreement to foster innovation and start-up services in Kaunas University of Technology based on the Aalto University model. The secondary goal for the project is to enhance science and business cooperation as well as innovations in the Baltic Sea region economies. Time scale of the cooperation project is 2012 February to 2014 December.
Aalto University Center for Entrepreneurship (“ACE”) is on the frontier of matching science and business needs by bringing research results to the market and brokering new knowledge and technologies created in universities to the businesses and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is willing to take a role of demonstration partner for co-creating the success stories in international transfer of ACE frontier knowledge and technology commercialization competence.
“Cooperation agreement with Aalto University will become the foundation for active participation in developmental process of the country, and to implement KTU strategic objectives and to become the centre for technology development in the Baltic States”, says prof. Petras Baršauskas, KTU Rector.
KTU will benefit from the possibility to use state-of-the-art platform for commercializing frontier knowledge and technology into international markets, and will form a core for developing reliable research institutions and businesses network in the region to serve as a source of frontier knowledge and technology.
Lithuanian Delegation visiting ACE
On February 6-7, Lithuanian and Finish Ministers of Economy have met in ACE to share experiences in science and innovation field, and to participate in signing the cooperation agreement between KTU and ACE. At the same time the Ministers and the Delegation were familiarized with the key programmes and people at ACE.
